Advocacy Support and Assistance

Justice Speaks provides individual advocacy support and assistance for those interested in learning more about their rights as service dog owners.

Individual advocacy is the process of assisting an individual  in correcting a problem such as solving a problem with a service provider, landlord, employer, etc. more specifically from Justice Speaks in regards to service dog oriented problems.

Our non-attorney staff may be able to provide limited individual advocacy services. Important note: we cannot handle emergencies, provide case management, or direct services. As we are a very small nonprofit, our capacity is very limited. What we can offer is guidance to your problem and connections to resources that we have identified as most effective. Reach out through our Contact us form with your questions and we will get back to you.

A member of our team will assess the information you’ve provided and determine if we can help or will need to refer you to another agency. We may need to gather more information before we can determine if we’re able to assist you or not. If your case requires us to request documentation on your behalf, we will ask you to sign a release before we can help. If we determine we can assist you, we will develop a goal for our advocacy and a plan of action which includes you.

Advocacy for Legislative Change

Periodically, Justice Speaks will be notified of any state legislative, policy or joint budget committee proposals that could potentially jeopardize the rights of the disabled community. If and when we encounter any of these messages and within due process, find the information to be correct, we will provide advocacy to our community within our power to change these prospective laws.

We rely on you, our community, to stay informed of potential threats to our rights as service dog owners. Please complete the Contact us form with your reports of any discriminatory practices outlined in legislative, policy or budget processes. We are here to listen and support your rights as a service dog owner.
